The hotels of footballer Lionel Messi managed by Melia Hotels International

The MiM hotels owned by soccer player Lionel Messi, who invested in the hospitality brand with Majestic Hotel Group, are being taken over by Majorca-based Melia Hotel International. According to international media, the six MiM hotels will be managed by the Melia group starting November 1.

The agreement was announced earlier today and strengthens the presence of Melia Hotels. Her portfolio now includes 26 stores that are open or under development in more than 12 countries. This collection has its own imprint and specific marketing standards.

However, since the MiM hotels reflect the character and style of the footballer, it has been agreed by both parties that this character will be maintained, while at the same time being integrated into the global booking system that will provide international exposure.

Messi’s presence in the hospitality sector proves the tendency of major sports personalities to diversify their investments in sectors with high development prospects. MIM Hotels already has a presence in Sitges, Ibiza, Mallorca, Bacelona and Andorra, choosing lifestyle destinations with steady demand. The MIM Sotogrande will add to this network, enhancing Spain’s image as a top luxury tourism destination in Europe.

It is a fact that last month Messi made a new investment and opened a new five-star hotel in Malaga.

Meliá Hotels International President and CEO Gabriel Escarrer noted that “the strength of this new alliance lies in the complementarity” of the MiM and Meliá Collection portfolios, which “not only share the same philosophy and a common value proposition for the most demanding travelers, but also have the support and inspiration of a global icon like Leo Messi.”
