Ένα αεροσκάφος της AirAsia, από λάθος των πιλότων αντί να προσγειωθεί στην Μαλαισία, προσγειώθηκε στην Μελβούρνη της Αυστραλίας.
Το αεροπλάνο εκτελούσε την πτήση Σιδνεϊ – Κουάλα Λουμπούρ, αλλά οι πιλότοι έβαλαν λάθος συντεταγμένες στα όργανα.

A minor typing mistake made by a pilot forced an AirAsia flight to land in Melbourne instead of Malaysia. The flight initially took off from Sydney and it was supposed to land in Malaysia. But the flight accidentally took all the passengers to Melbourne as the pilot entered the wrong coordinates in the navigation system of the Airbus A330.
An air safety investigation was ongoing after the flight took the passengers 11,000 km away from the actual destination on 10th March, 2015. The investigation found that the crew members of the flight caused a series of blunders, which forced the flight to land in a completely different country.
According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the captain and the first officer of the flight altered the usual pre-flight checks as faulty earmuffs were troubling them.
The investigation report also stated that because of the faulty earmuff, the pilot did not go outside to check the jet and he started doing cockpit tasks instead. After the captain manually copied the flight data, he entered the wrong details in the system. The entire blunder took place as the captain entered 15° 19.8’ east longitude instead of entering 151° 9.8’ east.
The investigation report said, “Despite a number of opportunities to identify and correct the error, it was not noticed until after the aircraft became airborne and started tracking in the wrong direction.”
It was found that as the crew tried to control the problem caused by the typing error, it started more problems with the flight’s control system.
The flight was destined to reach Kuala Lumpur, nine hours after the take off but it somehow landed in Melbourne instead, almost after two hours of the take off. When the passengers finally reached Kuala Lumpur, they had to endure a delay of six hours.
