Airtours is expected to focus on luxury hotels from next winter, while moving away from its portfolio of some brands, such as Robinson, TUI Blue and Riu Palace, which can no longer be booked through Airtours.
This was revealed by Airtours CEO Steffen Boehnke, giving more details about the company’s new market positioning at the TLTU annual conference.
In return, five and six-star hotels such as the Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons and Ikos will be added to its portfolio. “In the future, these will only be bookable through Airtours,” Boehnke explained.
Behind this move is the disproportionate growth of the luxury travel market. Thus, with a higher market positioning, Airtours seeks to attract a greater number of luxury travellers.
This will also include a large number of enhanced services and new benefits, such as baggage collection from Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich airports for bookings of €15,000 or more.
