In a particularly positive atmosphere, the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Mr. Christos Triantopoulos and Mrs. Marianthi Dimopoulou, Special Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, with the President of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association Yiannis Papavasiliou, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yiannis Pappou as well as Members of the Board of Directors of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association took place at the offices of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association, in the presence of the Members of Parliament of the Dodecanese, Mr. Mikas Iatridis, Mr. Manos Konsolas and Mr. Vasilis Ypsilantis.
The Rhodes Hoteliers Association delivered to the Minister a letter/memorandum with the requests to deal with the consequences of the fire in the area of Lindos and South Rhodes as well as a full report on the situation in the area and the requests already sent.
A constructive dialogue followed, where the Minister was briefed on all outstanding issues and committed to take immediate action on the following:
- Order to competent bodies with funds from your ministry for immediate cleaning and electric lighting of the streets of the area for reasons of public safety of residents and visitors of the area,
- Letter to the nursery and the competent bodies for the care of the trees that have already been planted around the main road of the Kiotari area,
- Organization of a video conference with competent engineers of your ministry to assist the owners of burned houses in preparing the files of compensation claims,
- Intervention to the competent authorities for the necessity of the immediate cleaning of the beach of Glistra, from the remains of the constructions that endanger the safety of bathers and visitors,
- Intervention in insurance companies and the immediate payment of compensation for loss of revenue, as well as the immediate assistance of your ministry for the payment of compensation for the destruction of buildings.
D. Anastasiades takes over as General Manager of Rhodes Hoteliers Association
In the meantime, the selection process for the General Manager of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association has been completed and this position will be taken over as of June 1, 2024 by Mrs. Dora Anastasiades.
Mrs. Anastasiades is an experienced executive in the field of marketing and tourism, having served as Director of the Regional Office of SETE South Aegean from 2015 to 2020, as well as Director of Marketing and Public Relations of the Bank of the Dodecanese.
He has collaborated as an external partner with the Rhodes Hoteliers Association, PROTOUR and the Municipality of Rhodes in the implementation of several projects that contributed to the enhancement of our tourism product and the promotion of tourism in Rhodes.
As the President of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association, Mr. Yiannis Papavasiliou, characteristically stated: “The main objectives of the new management are to strengthen the extroversion of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association, to strengthen the relations of the management with the members and to claim more effectively issues that concern the industry and tourism of Rhodes in general. We are confident that the strengthening of the Union’s potential with an executive with the experience and knowledge of Mrs. Anastasiades will contribute substantially to the achievement of our goals.”
