As October closes and the summer tourist season is extended, the baton is now being passed to mountain destinations, with the winter season starting with positive prospects.
The October 28th excursions serve as a springboard, while several areas of the mainland maintain high visitor traffic throughout the year, combining sea, nature, and alternative activities.
Epirus
The area remains a four-season destination, although in 2025 there was a drop in occupancy due to lower domestic demand and the temporary absence of the Israeli market. The Zagorochoria, Tzoumerka, and Metsovo are attracting interest, while the improvement of road axes and upgrading of the Ioannina airport are considered crucial for the future.
Karpathos
A 365-day mountain destination, with religious, nature-based, and athletic tourism. Panagia of Prusa attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors, while rafting, horseback riding, and hiking trails enhance the product. The area hosts sports teams in the summer, and investments in infrastructure and accommodations enhance its tourist identity.
Pieria
Mount Olympus functions as an international brand, offering the advantage of combining mountain and sea in a short distance. Elathochori, Litochoro, and Paleos Panteleimonas are steady attractions, with increased interest for this winter season.
Peloponnese
The area has seen a 20% increase in revenue and overnight stays compared to 2024. Arcadia, Parnonas, and mountainous Corinthia stand out for their authentic mountain experience, while Nafplio, Monemvasia, and Kalamata continue to attract visitors year-round. Increased traffic at Kalamata Airport and the new tourism promotion campaign are expected to further enhance the area’s extroversion.
