International air arrivals in Greece increased from January to November 2025, according to the December 2025 Statistical Bulletin of INSETE.
A total of 26.9 million international arrivals were recorded, an increase of 1.5 million or 5.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
International air arrivals per quarter
During the first quarter of 2025, international air arrivals totaled 1.7 million, up 76,000 or 4.8% from the same quarter in 2024. In January, 529,000 arrivals were recorded (+9.1%), in February 487,000 (+5.5%), and in March 663,000 arrivals, with an increase of 1.1%.
A total of 8.6 million international arrivals were recorded in the second quarter of 2025, an increase of 480,000 or 5.9%. In April, arrivals totaled 1.6 million (+8.4%), in May 3.0 million (+5.3%), and in June 4.0 million (+5.4%).
During the third quarter of the year, international arrivals totaled 13.5 million, an increase of 680,000 or 5.3%. In July, there were 4.9 million arrivals (+4.6%), in August 4.8 million (+6.2%), and in September 3.9 million (+5.1%).
The fourth quarter of 2025 began with an increase, as October saw 2.5 million international arrivals, up 151,000 or 6.6% from October 2024. In November, arrivals totaled 696,000, an increase of 84,000 or 13.7%.
International arrivals at major airports
During the period January–November 2025, Athens International Airport recorded 8.2 million international arrivals, an increase of 706,000 or 9.4% compared to 2024. In Thessaloniki, arrivals totaled 2.5 million, marking an increase of 238,000 or 10.5%.
Rhodes welcomed 3.1 million visitors (+2.2%), Kos 1.4 million (+3.6%), while Karpathos saw a 7.9% decline in arrivals to 91,000. In Heraklion, international arrivals totaled 4.0 million (+6.1%) and in Chania 1.6 million (+3.3%).
In Corfu, 2.1 million arrivals were recorded (+6.1%), in Zakynthos 1.1 million (+3.2%), in Kefalonia 377 thousand (+1.5%), and in Aktio 423 thousand (+6.8%). In Mykonos, 534,000 arrivals were recorded (+2.1%), while in Santorini arrivals decreased by 103,000 or 13.6%.
International arrivals by geographic area
Most international arrivals from January to November 2025 were recorded in Crete, with 5.6 million passengers, an increase of 284,000 or 5.3%. Followed by the Dodecanese with 4.5 million arrivals (+2.4%) and the Ionian Islands with 4.0 million arrivals (+4.9%).
In the Peloponnese, international arrivals totaled 255,000, an increase of 25,000 or 10.7%. In contrast, the Cyclades were the only geographic unit to see a decrease, with 1.2 million arrivals, down 92,000 or 7.2% compared to 2024.
Domestic Arrivals
During the period January–November 2025, 9.3 million domestic air arrivals were recorded, an increase of 1.83 million or 2.0% compared to the same period in 2024.
Athens recorded 4.6 million domestic arrivals (+1.8%), Thessaloniki 1.2 million (+3.6%), Heraklion 856,000 (+10.2%), and Chania 450,000 (+9.9%). In Rhodes, arrivals totaled 441,000 (+5.4%) and in Kos 161,000 (+8.0%).
In Santorini, domestic arrivals totaled 508,000, a 18.7% decrease, while in Mykonos they totaled 234,000, a 9.6% decrease. The Cyclades recorded a 13.0% decrease in domestic arrivals overall.
Travel movement January–October 2025
According to the travel balance data, in the period January–October 2025, inbound travel traffic amounted to 35.261 million travelers, an increase of 4.4% compared to 2024.
Travel from the EU-27 countries totaled 21.011 million travelers (+1.4%), while travel from other countries increased by 9.1% to 14.250 million travelers.
Travel proceeds: up in the ten-month period of 2025
Travel receipts increased in the period January–October 2025, according to the data of the travel balance included in the December 2025 Statistical Bulletin of INSETE.
During the period January–October 2025, travel receipts amounted to 20,947 million euros, compared to 19,968 million euros during the same period in 2024, representing an increase of 979 million euros or 4.9%.
Revenue from European Union countries
Travel receipts from EU-27 countries amounted to €11.751 billion, an increase of 1.5% compared to 2024. Specifically, receipts from eurozone countries amounted to €9.164 billion, an increase of 5.6%, while receipts from EU-27 countries outside the eurozone decreased by 10.4% and amounted to €2.587 billion.
Revenue from other countries
Revenue from other countries amounted to €9.196 billion, an increase of 9.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
Revenue from core markets
In more detail, revenue from Germany increased by 5.5% and amounted to 3.62 billion euros, while revenue from France decreased by 7.3% and amounted to 1.26 billion euros. Revenue from Italy increased by 6.6% and amounted to 1.25 billion euros.
As for non-EU markets, revenue from the United Kingdom increased by 4.5% to €3.15 billion, while revenue from the US increased by 2.8% to €1.56 billion.
