Expanding its global portfolio, Grand Metropolitan Hotels (GMH), based in Zurich, announced the acquisition of London-based Signature Hotels.
With the acquisition, the top hotel management company will expand its presence throughout the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and India.
Signature Hotels currently operates boutique and mid-sized hotels in London, with two more properties set to open in the next year. Additionally, her portfolio includes two hotels in India, which are in the development stage.
Grand Metropolitan Hotels plans to integrate Signature Hotels’ operational and administrative teams into its existing structure, ensuring a smooth transition and continued focus on excellent service. The Signature portfolio is the group’s independent hotel brands.
“Signature Hotels offer a powerful combination of local credibility and international ambition,” said Martin R. Smura, founder and president of Grand Metropolitan Hotels. And he added: “London remains one of the most competitive hospitality markets in the world and the strength of Signature there, combined with its ties to India, provides GMH with a direct and substantial development platform.”
Ramesh Arora, managing director of the Signature Hotels group, will remain a member of the Grand Metropolitan Hotels Supervisory Board. With over four decades of international experience across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, Mr. Arora has been recognized with numerous awards, including “Hotelier of the Year” by PATA and the “Lifetime Contribution to Hospitality and Tourism” award by Stardust.
“This partnership brings together two family businesses with shared values and a shared belief in hospitality as a force for good. By joining GMH, we are enhancing our ability to grow internationally while remaining true to our mission of providing authentic, locally inspired experiences,” Ramesh Arora said in a statement about the acquisition.
