“Thessaloniki has made significant progress as a tourist destination. Apart from its personality as a city, its culture, gastronomy and entertainment options it offers, it is an ideal starting point for hiking and exploration of Northern Greece or passage to Southeastern Halkidiki. Based on the economic data, the travel market in Northern Greece, the commercial and business relations with Germany, as well as the tourist traffic between Greece and Germany, we had a great interest in bringing back the Thessaloniki-Frankfurt route. We are very pleased that this interest has been transformed into a decision to further develop the Lufthansa Group in the region, “said Konstantinos Tzevelekos, General Sales Manager for Greece and Cyprus, Lufthansa Group.
Additional Lufthansa Group carriers, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings will also continue operating flights from Thessaloniki to destinations in Germany and Austria in the upcoming winter schedule as well.
