The Acropolis is included in the 25 best attractions in the world for 2024, while it is also present in the corresponding European ranking, in the category Best of the Best Things to Do, in the Travelers’ Choice® Awards, in which Greece was distinguished in a number of subcategories.
In particular, the Acropolis “figures” in 13th place in the ranking of the Top Attractions in the world in Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Things to Do category. While, at the same time, in the corresponding European one, it is in 8th place.
“Who hasn’t heard of the Acropolis? Tour this ancient landmark and take a guided tour to experience Greek mythology. Moreover, apart from its historical significance, the Acropolis has spectacular views across Athens, especially at sunset,” the popular platform says.
For the first time, the Empire State Building in New York rose to the top as No. 1 attraction worldwide. While, on a European level the most popular attractions is the Eiffel Tower.
In addition to these two distinctions, Greece stood out in the Top Experiences in Europe, with a cruise in the Argosaronic Gulf, with the theme “Full Day Cruise to 3 Islands -Agistri, Moni, Aegina- with lunch and drinks” being in 23rd place and a guided tour of Santorini based on wine and theme “Santorini wine stories: Sunset tour with tasting & dinner” coming in 25th place, completing the relevant ranking.
The full-day cruise to the three islands of the Argosaronic Gulf was also highlighted in the subcategory Sailing and Daily Cruise, occupying the 6th place in the world. In the same subcategory, in 13th place in the world is a cruise to Santorini with the theme “Semi Private Premium | Catamaran cruise with onboard barbecue & drinks.”
The wine-based tour of Santorini was also distinguished in the Food and Drink subcategory, occupying the 13th place in the world. In the same subcategory, in 21st place, there are Greek cuisine courses in Santorini.
“Set sail on a full-day cruise to Agistri, Moni and Aegina and enjoy a wandering adventure on islands with beautiful landscapes, clear waters and delicious food,” the platform reads, among other things, advertising the full-day cruise in the Argosaronic Gulf.
While, for the tour of Santorini, Tripadvisor invites travelers on a relaxed journey through the history of the island’s wine through a visit to picturesque vineyards, where they will be able to taste fine local wines. With the tour ending with a gourmet dinner in Oia, with the sunset in the background.
Meanwhile, Greece was distinguished in the Recreation & Water Park subcategory, with Aqualand Corfu Water Park, in Corfu, in 25th place.
The 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards in the Best of the Best Things to Do category are determined based on the quality and number of traveller reviews and ratings published on Tripadvisor during the 12-month period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
