TUI reorganises and strengthens its leisure markets | New person in the leadership team

As part of the announcement to reorganise the TUI Group and expand it as an integrated global platform for the provision of tourism products and services, the leadership of TUI Airline’s Commercial Division will change and Peter Glade will take over as the new head. These structural changes will unlock new revenue streams and expand the group’s customer base.

As previously reported, the TUI Group has announced a transformation of its structure and a change of roles in the leadership team.

In order to remain on its growth path, TUI Airline will expand its commercial organisation in line with this plan. The focus will be on exploiting commercial opportunities while aligning operations with the needs of the TUI Group. To lead this initiative and exploit commercial opportunities in the airline sector, a new role will be created on TUI Airline’s Board of Directors – Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

Peter Glade joins TUI on 1 November this year from SunExpress, where he served as CCO for over eight years. Building on his background in consulting, he played a key role in the strategic realignment of Austrian Airlines as Vice President Partner Management and Strategy and spent eight years driving sales and market development for Star Alliance.

In particular, Marco Ciomperlik, CEO of TUI Airline, said: “The airline industry continues to evolve, with increasing capacity, a focus on cost and efficiency, and a shift towards leisure markets. As TUI Airline, we want to further strengthen and expand our position in this segment as the airline of choice for holidays for B2B customers and partners. As such, we are delighted to welcome Peter Glade on board, who joins us on this exciting journey. Peter brings extensive commercial expertise, a strong network and a wealth of experience in aviation. His dedication to driving profitability and his deep understanding of successful cross-cultural leadership will be invaluable to our team.”

“Peter Glade will build on the loyalty and trust that customers place in us by enhancing our commercial capabilities, unlocking new revenue opportunities, creating new partnerships and thereby expanding our customer base. This will enable us to maximise the value we deliver to the wider TUI Group, while ensuring that our external perception matches our position as one of Europe’s top 10 airlines,” Ciomperlik added.
