Russia: 35% rise in early bookings to Greece

TOURISM

A rise of up to 35% in early booking for Greek destinations was noted by Russian TOs according to Atorus. The main reasons for this are the steady exchange rate between ruble/ euro and the variety of offers in all- inclusive hotels.

Following Turkey, number one holiday destination over the last three years, Greece is in position two of the ratings, way ahead other Mediterranean destinations (Tunisia, Cyprus and Spain).

According to the Russian TUI, early booking for Greece in ten times higher than that of last year. Prime destinations include Crete, Chalkidiki, Rhodes, Corfu, Zante and Kos and most bookings are for May- June and September- October obviously because prices are better at the beginning or the end of the tourist season. Most of these packages are booked by families with children, for 4-star hotels near beaches and tourist infrastructure. Grecotel has made very good offers. At present, there are reductions of 35%, in February there will be 25% reductions and in March 20%.

There are going to be charter flights from most major cities in Russia to most Greek destinations, such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete, Rhodes, Kos, the Peloponnese and Thasos most days of the week between May and October.
