The famous travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler ranks Milos in first place among 29 Greek islands as a holiday destination in 2024, distinguished by its beaches.
“Milos is being discovered more and more by prospective travellers”, says the prestigious travel magazine in its article entitled “Which Greek island to visit in 2024”.
“Instagram is filled with filter-free photos of the undulating, white rocks at Sarakiniko, the green swimming hole at Papafragas and the tiny, picturesque, island houses ‘wedged’ between rock and sea,” CNT said.
According to the magazine, the picturesque landscape was shaped by minerals that have long been a source of wealth – obsidian, alum, barite and sulphur, which still gushes from the island’s many hot springs.
“As the 11,000-year-old mining industry gradually gives way to tourism, several elegant hotels have made their appearance,” CNT reports, urging the traveling public to visit the island immediately before the flow of visitors turns into a tidal wave.
The publication also makes special mention of Aphrodite of Milos, the famous statue that has been in the Louvre Museum since the 19th century.
Among the accommodation options in Milos, CNT suggests:
– For romantic travelers, Milos Cove.
– For families, the Captain Zeppos.
– For eco-retreats, the Skinopi Lodge.
– For an authentic stay, Achinos By The Sea.
In the introduction to its article, the leading travel magazine says: “Here, we have ranked the best Greek islands, from 1 to 29. While we love and highly recommend every island on this list – and suggest you visit them all in your lifetime if you can – we’ve edited the list in such a way that if it’s your first time planning a visit to this magical corner of the world, or if you just want to get away from your usual summer trip to the islands, we can help you choose where to go next. The series below reflects the personal opinions of our well-travelled team, the scenery, the food, the beaches, the hotel selections and more.”
