SAS has given EuroBonus members the option to sign up for the “Destination Unknown” flight experience. More than 1000 members signed up for the opportunity to embark on this mysterious journey, which showed that Athens was the destination of choice.

This extraordinary SAS experience promises to add additional excitement and adventure to the trip. The allure of the unknown destination will keep travelers on the edge throughout the flight until the destination is revealed. All seats on the flight are reserved for SAS EuroBonus members and can only be purchased using EuroBonus points. The Destination Unknown tickets are all so-called biofuel tickets.

I am thrilled about this innovative concept, and I am confident that, just like me, a lot of travelers are excited by the idea of an unknown destination. The prospect of embarking on an adventurous and mysterious journey with fellow enthusiasts, finding new connections and friendships along the way, is truly exciting. SAS equals trust and quality and promises our passengers an adventure that will bring their travel experience to a new level. These are not just trips; they are extraordinary journeys that will stay with you for a lifetime,” says Paul Verhagen, EVP & Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.

According to the AIA PASSENGER Survey data, the characteristics and reasons why the travelling public chooses to travel are diverse. As far as the Nordic audience is concerned, 80% of Norwegians are motivated by holidays, 15% of Danish travellers are motivated by business and 20% of Swedes are motivated by family travel.
The core percentage of Nordic travellers choose to make their bookings through the actual airline websites, while only a proportion of 5 to 8% choose to make their bookings through other travel companies.

Analysing the profiles of Scandinavian travellers and Greeks respectively, it is a fact that most Scandinavians choose to travel on holiday with a friend or partner, booking their trip through the original airlines. Greek travellers, on the other hand, choose to travel for leisure as well as for business, mainly on their own. Their bookings are made either through the official airline sites or through travel agents. Their trips are of longer duration than those of the Scandinavians and on an annual basis there are usually more trips by Greeks than by Scandinavians.

SAS Airlines chooses to create a first and good contact with Hellas, choosing Athens as a mysterious destination within the framework of the Destination Unknown action, which shows the beauty of the unknown journey. The start of this trip was from 5 to 8 April 2024.
