AEGEAN’s passenger traffic report for the first quarter of the year is particularly positive, with an 11% increase in traffic on both the domestic and international networks. In particular, AEGEAN in the traditionally weaker quarter of the year carried a total of around 2.9 million passengers, up 279 thousand compared to 2023, having offered around 3.5 million available seats.

The growth in the international network of Athens (+10%) and Thessaloniki (+10%) was similarly balanced compared to 2023, confirming the company’s commitment to the development of both of the country’s two main airports, which have significant international activity in winter as well. It should be noted that AEGEAN’s network this winter season included 85 direct connections to and from international destinations, with a total of 10 of them operating for the first time in winter, including Bilbao, Bratislava, Tallin, Barcelona from Thessaloniki and the new route to Dubai.

It is recalled that during the winter season that was completed, a winter tourism program was carried out for the first time in cooperation with special Tour Operators from abroad, linking the island with more than 20 destinations in Scandinavia, France, Germany and England. At the same time, AEGEAN’s ten-year cooperation with TEMES, for flights during the winter season from and to Kalamata with Germany, Sweden and Denmark, continued and was extended.

It is worth noting that the increase in international passenger traffic exceeds 27% for Athens and 32% for Thessaloniki if compared to the corresponding period in 2019, recording the first significant results for the company and Greek tourism from AEGEAN’s systematic investment in maintaining the network, connectivity and frequencies during the winter period.

It is noted that AEGEAN in 2023 offered a total of more than 18.5 million seats, including 11.1 million international seats, 2.1 million more compared to 2022 and 800 thousand more than in 2019. The airline’s network included a total of 180 destinations in 49 countries with 307 direct scheduled and charter flights and operated 76 aircraft taking delivery of 9 more new Airbus 320/321 neo aircraft scheduled for 2023.
