Papazisis Publications presented the new book “Tourism policy at international, European and national level” by Panagiota (Yolas) Dionysopoulou, Director General of Tourism Policy of the Ministry of Tourism.

Mrs Dionysopoulou’s book deals with the issue of the formulation of public policies for the very important but extremely vulnerable tourism sector. A sector particularly sensitive to exogenous factors where new challenges are emerging for the management of the tourism ecosystem. The formulation of these policies involves and influences a range of productive actors and organisations at national, European and international level.

The book raises questions about the nature and role of tourism by developing tools to measure and monitor its development in the international debate. Thus, the logic that leads to the comprehensible study of the text and consequently to the essential theoretical knowledge that is necessary for the investigation of the involvement of the individual national policies in dealing with tourism, highlighting the role of the Ministry of Tourism in the development of a holistic strategic plan. This aims to improve the competitiveness, quality, authenticity, resilience and sustainability of the tourism product in the long term by providing guidelines for policy implementation, strengthening development projects and creating synergies.
