Today’s Jet2 flights to Skiathos were postponed due to bad weather

AIR NEWS BUSINESS

Jet2 has postponed its flights that were due to fly today (Friday, 10 May) to Skiathos for tomorrow (Saturday, 11 May) due to the strong winds and storms forecast for the island.

Jet2 issued a severe weather warning for Skiathos on its website at 4.15am today. According to it, the National Weather Service has issued warnings for “severe thunderstorms” in Skiathos.

The company, which serves the island from seven UK airports, said in its statement: “Due to the adverse weather conditions forecast for Skiathos on Friday 10 May 2024, we have postponed all flights to Skiathos until tomorrow. If you are travelling to Skiathos today, please do not proceed to the airport. If you are travelling back to the UK today, please continue to check our website. We will also contact you via text messages and email. We apologise for this change, which unfortunately is out of our control.”

“It is rare for our schedules to be disrupted in this way and although this change is beyond our control, we understand that it will disrupt your plans at the last minute,” the company stresses, assuring that it is doing everything it can to ensure that the situation is normalised as soon as possible.

“We have a huge team working hard behind the scenes at our UK headquarters who are monitoring the situation and on behalf of all of us, we again apologise for the inconvenience this delay is causing,” Jet2 said in its statement.

Passengers who have purchased a single flight have been offered a free change to the next available flight to the island or the option of cancellation with a full refund. While, customers who have purchased package holidays are advised to contact the company to arrange their holiday.
